Hamza Bhat

Hello! I’m Hamza, a second year medical student with a deep passion for cardiology, education, and event organisation. Through my experiences in research, teaching, and society work, I’ve developed the skills needed to plan engaging, high-impact events. 🚀

I have extensive experience planning and executing large-scale events that equip me with the skills to execute this role effectively. As part of the Charity Week Auction Dinner subcommittee, I played a key role in securing auction donations, liaising with businesses, and managing logistics for a flagship event attended by over 300 people. Similarly, as Blood and Stem Cell Drive Co-Head for the BADG campaign, I organised a successful stem cell drive with 80 sign-ups to the stem cell register and raised £390 for DKMS through a bake sale. These experiences have honed my ability to coordinate events efficiently, handle logistics, and maximise outreach. 📈

If elected, I will:

1. Build cross-society and cross-uni collaborations 📬 – Collaborate with other academic societes, to create interdisciplinary events that connect cardiology with other medical fields, and other cardio socieites at other universities to host larger-scale events with higher turnouts.
2. Research initiatives 🔬 – Arrange a cardiology shadowing scheme for interested students, collaborate with academics to provide students access to research projects in cardiology and audits
3. Expand hands-on learning 🧫 – Organise practical workshops in ECG interpretation, cardiac auscultation, suturing and emergency cardiac management
