Arushi Maheshwari
Hi, I’m Arushi, a 2nd year medical student, and I would love to be research coordinator for Clinical Genetics society!
Over the past couple years, I have engaged in secondary research on genetic disorders underpinning intellectual disability and done an internship on genome mapping. I thoroughly enjoyed these experiences and want to create similar opportunities for members to conduct clinical and secondary research with faculty.
I believe clinical genetics has incredible scope for research, technological development and multidisciplinary collaboration, which is exactly what I want to bring to the society.
As research coordinator, I want to plan networking events to connect interested students, industry professionals and keen professors, paving way for collaboration and learning. I also want to host speakers, for instance, BSc students doing research in relevant areas and genetics professors to talk about advancements in the field and encourage students to get involved. I am eager to organise essay writing and poster making competitions for members, which can be submitted to journals and conferences, giving students an opportunity to win prizes and gain essential skills.
I’m really fascinated by genetics and am eager to give others an opportunity to explore their curiosity and interests.
Thank you for reading my manifesto :)
