Sudharshan Palaniappa
Hi everyone! Our names are Sudharshan and Hari, and we are third-year medical students running for Co-Chairs of the Gastroenterology & Hepatology society.
Having gone through our placements in gastroenterology, we have developed a deep-rooted passion and a commitment to advancing knowledge in this field. We aspire to further improve the presence of our society, and some of the ideas we have include:
- Establishing a conference where students can hear from leading gastroenterologists and attend relevant workshops
- Creating a mentorship scheme linking students with experienced consultants or registrars
- Running tutorials on gastroenterology topics, and collaborating with other societies to organize mock CPAs and OSCEs
- Expanding on network of sponsors by actively seeking more organisations and individuals
- Starting a guest speaker series that would serve as career guidance for members
More about us:
I’m Hari and I believe I am well-suited to the role having developed my communication, teamworking and organisation skills as Deputy BMA Rep last year. This year in my roles as Secretary of Indian Society & SORA, I developed my skills involved in managing logistics and helping coordinating events, and as part of SORA I chaired an intercalated PhD conference and gained experience with organising conferences.
I’m Sudharshan and I’ve been in the committees/subcommittees of multiple societies at Imperial, and have also gone through mandatory military service in my home country. I have thus developed the organisational and leadership abilities to run a society, and can collaborate with others well and work under pressure to deliver results.
