Paediatrics: Play Team Chair
We are Malisha and Amelia, and we are excited to run for PlayTeam Chairs!
As dedicated members of the Paediatric Society, we bring a combined five years of experience in PlayTeam, including two years as PlayTeam Leads and roles on the subcommittee. We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact PlayTeam has on children in the wards, providing them with much-needed joy and distraction. More than that, we’ve loved engaging with patients one-on-one and making a real difference.
Through our experience as volunteers and leads, we’ve gained a deep understanding of PlayTeam’s logistics—from organizing training days to maintaining toys and handling day-to-day challenges. This insight makes us well-prepared to take on this role.
That said, we see opportunities to enhance PlayTeam:
- Stronger Team Bonding – Attendance tends to decline as the year progresses. We want to foster team morale from the start by making the training day more engaging, helping volunteers stay committed throughout the year.
- Better Monitoring – Consistent attendance tracking is crucial. We aim to ensure that the PlayTeam register is updated regularly, with Chairs actively checking and following up when needed.
PlayTeam has had an incredible impact at St. Mary’s and within Imperial. We’re passionate about continuing and strengthening this work, and we’d love your support to make it happen!
