Hi, my name is Keya and I’m excited to run for Treasurer for Jain Soc! I believe that Jainism is so much more than just going to the temple - it’s a way of life that brings peace to both yourself and those around you. In order to be able to make our belief system more accessible to a student audience, I think it’s really important that the events we host have a good balance of both casual socials and focus on Jain dharma and its modern impacts - hence as Treasurer I would support the running of these events through careful managing of our budget. This would include funding for:

• Thali + Tunes events - restaurant bookings, guest speaker bookings
• Cricket socials - indoor cricket nets
• Temple visits - for transport if its faraway like Potters Bar and lunch included
• Discounts on tokens for bowling, mini golf, ice skating, etc (casual socials)
• Free food at events such as Meet and Greets

In close collaboration with the Events Officer, I will strive to make sure that our events this coming year will be an eclectic mix of light-hearted socials just to get to know fellow society members, and more serious visits in which we directly take part in discussing and upholding the pillars of Jainism. Given how big of a part it has played in shaping my own values, it would be my pleasure to contribute to Jain Soc in this way.
