Diamond De Bonsu
Hey guys, my name is Diamond (3rd year Med) and I’m excited to apply for the role of Events Officer for MedHums. I am eager to lead the organisation of thought-provoking events that bring together students to explore the intersections of medicine and the humanities.
My interest in medical humanities stems from my background studying history and frequent visits to institutions like the Wellcome Collection, where I have explored the ways medicine shapes and is shaped by society. I have a genuine appreciation for how the humanities offer a vital perspective and greater understanding of medicine beyond science alone.
Outside of uni, I have organised several events, including a charity fundraiser for Evelina London Children’s Hospital, demonstrating my ability to plan, coordinate and execute successful events with a purpose. I am confident in my organisational skills, creativity, and ability to engage speakers, ensuring that events run smoothly and are well attended.
I would love to continue a variety of events to the society whilst introducing new topics. Including:
- Panel discussions with historians, ethicists, and medical professionals, film makers, writers and more.
- Film screenings with discussions on medical themes in cinema, such as mental health in film or historical portrayals of medicine.
- Museum and archive visits including group trips to the Wellcome Collection and Science Museum.
- Creative writing sessions
- Art workshops exploring the role of visual arts in expressing illness and healing
So vote for me x
Thank you :)
