Namaste, I'm Prerana! I’m running for Sanskaar Coordinator to create engaging opportunities to connect with the traditions, values, and knowledge of Sanatan Dharma. It’s not just memorizing scriptures and shlokas, but about understanding the core of our Dharma and integrating it into our lives.
Sanatan Dharma isn’t just a religion—it’s a way of life. University is the perfect time to ask questions, explore, and reconnect with our roots. In addition to inviting speakers and having discussion groups like Think Out Loud—which has been fantastic this year—I want to expand our events with:
- Practical meditation & spirituality sessions
- Understanding the meaning behind our festivals (so we can confidently answer, "Why do you celebrate...?")
- Exploring lessons from the Mahabharata & Ramayana—we know the stories, but do we understand their deeper teachings?
- Simple bhakti evenings, movie nights, and seva projects
This isn’t about enforcing anything—it’s about creating a space where we can learn, grow, and share ideas to not miss out on the treasures we have access to.
There’s so much we can do, but we must find what works in the most engaging way. Working with the committee, I’m dedicated to making this the best year yet. As part of the sub-committee, I’ve gained experience, especially after organising our successful Shivratri evening. I also have experience with organising meditation/spiritual events outside uni which involved communicating with external speaker and organisers.
