Students for Global Health: Events Officer

Hello Everyone! I’m Amna, a second year medical student. As a student with deep interest in global health, I am eager to serve as Events Officer for SfGH. My goal is to organise impactful events that promote understanding of health inequalities globally and multifaceted challenges healthcare workers face worldwide.

Through attending various conferences and workshops, I have gained insight into the significant global health inequalities and the hurdles healthcare professionals encounter across diverse settings. I believe that addressing these issues requires more than just scientific understanding—it demands a holistic approach that considers social, economic, and cultural factors influencing both patients and doctors.

I am deeply motivated by my experiences organising and attending events that focus on social and global health issues. My involvement in these events, including mentoring and tutoring, has helped me build strong organisational and communication skills. These experiences have made me well-equipped to organise impactful events that not only raise awareness but also promote tangible results.

As Events Officer, I would introduce casual coffee events, where we can discuss current global and public health issues, share opinions, and have a relaxed get-together to also talk about our lives. I would also aim to organize more educational workshops that offer a real-world perspective on medicine. I’d introduce quiz games that encourage learning while having a good time - by working together, we can make global health not just an area of study, but a platform for active involvement and meaningful change!

Thank you!
