MedTech: Events Lead (Workshops & Speaker series)

Hi everyone, I’m Mei – a 3rd year medical student passionate about all things Med and Tech! I’m thrilled to be running for Events Lead in MedTech, which my current involvement with has only solidified my desire to expand further into.

Over the past year, my work as a logistics officer for In2MedSchool – a widening participation charity - has given me the experience of organising webinar series for prospective medical students, diving into topics most valuable for them, including mental health and a podcast on student life. It has strengthened my network not only within medicine, but also within these specialist fields. My involvement in this year’s MedTech Hackathon taught me invaluable lessons on effective communication with potential speakers.

I understand and relate to the feeling of struggling to get your foot in the MedTech door, and my plans for this year reflect this; technical workshops will highlight machine learning applications in MedTech – not only would I like to explore this on a treatment-based approach, with wearable health monitoring, but also prospecting the applications of chatbots to automate documentation and improve efficacy of patient consultations. Additionally, building on my aim to bridge the gap between those in and outside the industry, I’d like to introduce MedTech Networking Nights, introducing medical start ups to those who’d like to amalgamate themselves deeper into MedTech.

Overall, I feel that this highly operational background well equips me to be the perfect candidate for this role - thank you for your time and support.
