Katherine Pease
I have been involved with taekwondo for nearly fifteen years and have competed on the USA Taekwondo and AAU USA national circuits since 2015. During that time I gained experience in both WT Poomsae and Sparring, winning national medals in both events. I also began teaching at my dojang in 2022, working with students of all ages and levels. During 2023 and 2024, I served as the coach and manager for my dojang’s competition team, bringing a team of approximately a dozen athletes to three tournaments, one of whom ultimately qualified during that season for the AAU USA National Poomsae Team.
Outside of taekwondo, I have experience managing large projects and groups of people as set construction chief for my high school’s theater program.
Through my experiences as an athlete and a coach, I have come to recognize the importance of mentorship and mutual support within a team for fostering growth. Furthermore, I believe that competing has significant benefits for athletes’ development in taekwondo. As WT Captain, I would seek to:
- Provide centralized resources to assist in self-preparation for competitions and grading,
- Create a mentorship program for athletes seeking to receive individual feedback from more experienced club members, and
- Increase opportunities for competition-focused training during sessions before tournaments.
I hope to have the opportunity to serve the club, and all of you, as your WT Captain next year (and of course, ideally beat UCL too). Thank you so much for your consideration!
