Bella Hobby
Hello! I'm Bella and I will be running for re-election for the role of Events Officer. In my time in this role, I have worked together with the rest of the committee to help make coding less intimidating for those in the life sciences. I assisted in planning and teaching coding workshops, brainstormed ideas for future events and created coding resources for society members. Undoubtedly, the most enjoyable part of my role has been planning and delivering coding workshops. Creating unique lesson plans and providing a support network to people interested in computational biology is something I hope I can continue to do in my coming term.
Computational Biology Society has done some amazing things over the past few terms, and I would love to continue that legacy. I hope to reignite the mentorship program I proposed in my last manifesto -- wherein undergraduate students can be paired up with graduate students in the field to give them guidance. Additionally, I would love to facilitate small-group coding projects within the society to get members acquainted with various bioinformatic tools.
I am very excited for the future of Computational Biology Society, and it would be an honour to be elected as your next Events Officer!
