Orchestra - Symphony: Vice-Chair

Hi! I'm Kaelyn and I'm a violinist. I've always loved large orchestral works, and since joining ICSO this academic year it's been such fun to rehearse and perform with everyone.

I'd love to contribute to ICSO as Vice-Chair not only by assisting the committee generally, but more specifically by:

1. Aiming to organise more solo/small ensemble performances and outreach opportunities

I will promote chamber music/solo performances for orchestra members, fostering a stronger sense of musicality and community. I believe that every ICSO musician is uniquely talented, and I understand that the demands of university life and solely playing in an orchestra can make it challenging to develop musically and socially.

Through broadening performance opportunities, we can create more cohesive orchestral playing. Additionally, this could generate well-deserved recognition and interest in Imperial’s classical music scene, whilst giving back to the wider community through outreach.

2. Furthering engagement within the orchestra

Have you had brilliant ideas, complaints or general feedback, but never got to air your thoughts? A suggestions form included in the weekly email would give everyone a voice, irrespective of their role, because every thought/contribution matters.

Given my previous experience as an orchestra leader, chamber musician, soloist, and having a general love for organisation, I do believe that as Vice-Chair, I can help our musical community to thrive, and (most importantly) have fun!
