Prachur Khandelwal
Hello everyone! I’m Prachur, a third-year medic running for Oncology Society Palliative Care Officer.
I believe I am well suited to the role, having developed my communication, teamworking and organisation skills in my role as Indian Society President, Surgical Society General Executive and Oncology Society subcommittee this year. From the onset, I’ve always been interested in oncology with a course into cancer being one of my initial motivators for doing medicine.
After medical school, I have also gained an appreciation for palliative care and how the treatments for curative and palliative chemotherapy can subtly differ. I am passionate about palliative care due to the powerful impact it has on patients' lives. It allows people to maintain their dignity and respect, improving their quality of life and minimising their suffering. Joining oncology society would give me a great opportunity to interact with like-minded peers and professionals, and I would appreciate the opportunity to contribute to education and raising awareness around the importance of palliative care research.
I will aspire to foster a strong learning and collaborative environment both within and out of the society. I strongly believe in giving my all to any responsibilities that I would have in this role. Also, I would collaborate with other societies and professionals to help organise talks around palliative care. I also plan to help provide networking opportunities with palliative care doctors during the annual oncology conference.
Thus, I hope you vote for me Oncology Society Palliative Care Officer!
Thank you very much!
