Respiratory Medicine: Chair

Hello, I am Evan, a 4th year medical student, and I am honoured to stand as a candidate for Chair of the Imperial College Respiratory Medicine Society.

My diverse leadership experience has prepared me well for this role. As Vice President and Treasurer of ICSM Badminton—one of Imperial’s largest sports societies—I have coordinated event such as domestic and international tours. In my role as AMSEP Officer in AMSA, I organised an international exchange to and from Thailand, which demanded careful planning, international teamwork, negotiation and prudent money management—skills that will be invaluable when securing funds and sponsorships for our society. Furthermore, as AMSA Academic Officer, I have successfully helped coordinate mock exams for Years 2, 3, and 6 in collaboration with ICSMSU and helped facilitate inter-university careers talks.

With respect to the NURC, I plan to:

  • Initiate early planning around November time to ensure meticulous organisation
  • Actively pursue previous sponsorships from the MDU, geeky medics as well as pursue new sponsorship opportunities
  • Forge robust partnerships with respiratory societies at other universities, AMSA and other academic groups within ICSM to share financial responsibilities, increase manpower, and boost conference reach and turnout

Additionally, I plan to:

  • Collaborate with other societies to introduce cross-university academic tutorials and careers talks, further expanding our educational reach
  • Introduce more social events, particularly in collaboration with other university respiratory societies, to foster networking and build a vibrant community.

Together, let us elevate our society to new heights, making a lasting impact on our careers and patient care.
