Emily Gan
Prototyping and Hacking Society: Vice President
Hey ProtoSoc members,
I’m Emily, a 2nd-year Biomedical Engineering student, and I’m running for VP because I believe ProtoSoc has the potential to be a place where we don’t just make things, but an impact. Here’s how I plan to make that happen:
- Hands-on Challenges: Regular challenges and buildathons to get us working on cool projects and learning by doing in the first phase of the term.
- Peer Mentorship: Setting up a mentorship system where experienced members can guide others, ensuring that we all grow, share, and learn from one another.
- Industry Partnerships: Set up a bi-monthly series of talks, panels, and Q&A sessions with professionals from industries like prototyping, tech, and sustainability. These talks can be practical, e.g. learning about new prototyping technologies, or more about career paths, startup advice, and how to transition from university projects into real-world applications.
- Cross-Society Collaborations: Partnering with other Imperial societies to work on interdisciplinary projects and solve big problems together. Think sustainability-focused prototypes or tech-driven design challenges.
ProtoSoc should be where ideas become reality, and if elected, I’ll work with the team to keep things fun, engaging, and impactful.
Thank you!
