Ilya Schor

I am a second-year Mechanical Engineering student, and I'd love to be your next Head of External Speaker.

I have committee experience as Vice-Chair of the Film Society and Education Officer of the Jewish Society, helping lead both organizations to successful years so far. I am passionate about Finance, and I'd love to join this committee to help grow the society and expose more people to Finance. I chose this role because my favourite events from Finance Society this year were the external speakers coming to give some talks. I also have extensive people contact experience, notably coordinating with important speakers to organise conferences for youth movements.

Next year, if elected, I will invite more finance professionals to come and actually give a lecture on a technical subject they master, rather than only talking superficially about their career and job. This can be a good way to gain a deeper understanding of the financial world and develop precious skills.

I will tailor these events for different levels of financial literacy and understanding, from basic introduction targetted for newcomers to technical methods and deep discussions. I will also try to invite multiple people at the same time to confront ideas and enhance discussion.
