Hi, I'm Ayesha and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be Paediactric Plastic Surgery Conference Co-Chair this year. I have a strong passion for Plastic Surgery and the paediactrics aspect of the discipline is one that is only partially touched upon during our degree. This specialist area provides a valuable space for reinforcing principles and skills used in plastic surgery, but then understand how these principles shift and adapt when it comes to paediactrics. I would want to ensure that the conference is of the utmost quality to allow students to recieve an insight into this specialised discipline as in a highly effective and efficient manner. As co-chair, I would endeavour to:
Make the conference accessible to as many students as possible, not just in terms of numbers, but also in terms of price point and level of medical detail, especially to allow those who are potentially less set on Plastic surgery to foster an interest. I would want to place an emphasis on this conference being a high-yield opportunity for all.
Ensure a wide range of insights and variety to the conference to evidence the multi-faceted nature of this discipline. This would include a strong balance between lectures, skills-based workshops and panels. Diversity in speakers and workshop leads would be a strong priority.
Having worked on the ICOGs and Meeting of the Minds conferences this year, I feel I am in good stead to ensure that this conference runs as smoothly and effectively as possible.
