Hey guys, hope everyone is well! My name is Ibrahim and I am currently a second year Medical Biosciences student!
It has been a wonderful year so far being on the subcommittee for the BioMED society, and I'm grateful to have been involved in different sessions for you all, including the Year 1 exams tip session we held before Christmas!
Even though I'm in my second year, I can still remember how daunting it was to transition to university on my first day here, especially on an academically challenging course like BMB. However, having been through first year, I believe this is where I can help to create a seamless transition for next year's cohort!
I am able to be an effective lead for Year 1 as I am:
- organised - I can handle various tasks simultaneously
- approachable - I believe in the power of feedback so that we can improve our sessions based on your needs
- experienced - having already been on subcommittee, I already have experience in helping to organise sessions, and I am already familiar with Year 1 assessments and deadlines
If given a chance, I would love to be the Year 1 lead to bridge the gap between the cohort and the committee to organise anything Year 1 students need, e.g. sessions on approaching ICAs or further exam sessions.
