Hey guys, hope everyone is well! My name is Ibrahim and I am currently a second-year Medical Biosciences student!
It has been a wonderful year being on the BioMED subcommittee where I've had the opportunity to take part in different sessions hosted by us for students!
However, I think many of us can agree that the jump from Year 1 to Year 2 is quite large, such as adjusting to increased workload, different styles of ICAs, all whilst navigating how to search for internships. Having been through Year 2 now, I feel there are plenty of areas left where we can support second year BMB students - this is where I can help you guys!
As your year 2 lead, I aim to bridge the gap between your cohort and the committee in order to address your needs, such as:
- guidance to new ICAs - as some modules require a digital storytelling presentation, so I feel it would be beneficial for you guys to hear some tips on approaching such ICAs for the first time
- searching for internships and UROPs
- guidance to navigating second year - including tricks and tips for each module including core modules such as LP2
BMB is tough, and it does get harder in second year, but if given the chance to be your Year 2 lead, I have no doubt that your time in second year can be made a little easier! :)
