Yi Yang

Hi everyone, I’m Yi Yang, a final-year Geophysics student and former Deputy President (Education) at Imperial College Union. I’m running for CSSA President to enhance our cultural experience and build a more vibrant and inclusive community.

As DPE, I led successful campaigns improving PhD supervision, increased academic English support bookings by 70%, and secured £40,000+ in funding for student initiatives. I’ve worked with students across all levels and built strong leadership and event management experience that I hope to bring to CSSA.

My goal as President is to enrich cultural life and ensure everyone feels at home:

🧧 Celebrate major Chinese festivals like Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn, and Dragon Boat Festival with more interactive and creative activities.

🎤 Launch flagship events like Imperial’s Voice — a student talent show that brings our community together and gives everyone a stage.

🤝 Encourage cross-society collaborations and offer more support for student-led cultural ideas and initiatives.

CSSA should be more than a student society — it should feel like home. Let’s celebrate our culture, support each other, and create lasting memories together.
