Light Opera (ICSM): Treasurer
Having spent 3 this fabulous society, I have officially graduated from the UH trenches and am now ready for the treasures of Exec (quite literally).
My aims:
- Introduce a one-to-one meeting scheme with all our departments and sister societies to have open conversations from the start and set expectations for the year. This will allow me to create budgets based on their ideals alongside previous years’ budgets to ensure they all have what they need to excel in their roles.
- Make Opera financially accessible to everyone, adjusting the timeline and instalments of payments and using my financial knowledge and resources from time as ICSMSU Welfare Vice-Chair (e.g. Student Experience Fund) to ensure everyone is able to enjoy Opera to the full, regardless of their financial background.
- Dedicate 10 minutes per week to chasing subs with a strict policy.
- Represent our Opera as a member of Exec: this role is as much about supporting the President, committee and society as it is handling the finances. My experience as a Creative, organising events such as UH Revue, as publicity officer and Welfare Vice-Chair mean that I have versatile knowledge and skills in multiple domains of our society, being approachable and able to support anyone who needs it.
Overall, this means spend on my members and save on smaller practices that add up to bigger losses: my meticulous nature and organisational capabilities make me the perfect candidate, and cannot express how keen I am to learn through this role.
