Muslim Medics: Secretary

Having been a fresher rep during first year, I am eager to continue being a part of the Muslim Medics committee and would therefore like to apply for the role of secretary. Taking on this role would allow me to develop my organisational and logistical skills through taking care of coordination and communications, and keeping the MM community engaged and informed through the weekly newsletter.

Throughout my time on committee, I have gained experience in organising, planning and supporting events with MM. By applying for secretary, I hope to take on a central role in the daily background runnings of the society. I am organised, have good time-management and communication skills, which I have developed through being fresher rep, and vice-chair of my sixth-form’s Medsoc. I have experience working on the design and content of newsletters, something I would like to improve for MM's by making it more visually engaging. I also aim to streamline admin work from Teams files to one shared Notion workspace: efficiently managing all events, bookings, and newsletter content.

I’ve always believed that a Muslim should not live only for themselves, but that we have a responsibility towards our community. This belief inspired me to pursue medicine, and for me, being part of MM is an extension of that: assisting those who might struggle on their journey to becoming doctors, whilst providing a sense of belonging. MM provided this for me, and I hope to continue to offer the same for others.
