Hana Mehager
Hi! I’m Hanka, the number one track enthusiast and cross-country hater. Back on September 27th, the night before moving to Imperial, I remember going through at least 7 different emotional rollercoasters because I was convinced I would not fit into a new university environment. On October 1st, I approached the ICXCAC stall at Freshers fair - having done track from age 8, I thought it was only natural to continue the running madness at uni. I was welcomed by equally mad, passionate athletics captains with such joy, all the doubt surrounding uni disappeared; I knew I found my people.
I’m running for athletics captain not only because of my competitive side, but also because I want to make runners of all levels (including those who have never stepped foot on a track before) feel welcome.
Having spent most of my Tuesdays and Thursdays on the TVH track, I learned my way around and am close with the coaches. I would love to use my knowledge and connections to support people throughout their track journey, whether they’re a fresher or a continuing student.
I had a lovely 2024/25 season, as I got to compete for Imperial as an Imperial Scholar for the first time. Although I loved competing, I felt as though I could use more Imperial friends at track, which is what I would try to do if I get to be athletics captain.
Thanks for reading and considering voting for me :)
