Dhurkka Kumanan

Hi! I’m Dhurkka, and I am running for Secretary for TSoc Committee!

I’ve really loved being part of subcommittee over the past year, and I would love to continue being part of TSoc through being secretary for this year.

From helping to organise Games night to working with others on the risk assessment, I’ve been able to gain an insight into what the role would entail and understand the qualities required to perform it well. For example, understanding the efficiency required in planning to help the events run smoothly. On top of this, I am confident to be able to take on the role of secretary such as through organizing society meetings, working with the Union and supporting the presidents in running our events.

If elected, I would love to help TSoc to run smoothly by having clear organization and communication. After spending a year at my school’s MedSoc society and being an editor of my school’s science magazine, I have been able to contribute effectively to the organization of the societies. Alongside working with Subcommittee this year, I have previously worked in a Charities committee to run numerous charity events - here, I realized the importance of teamwork in the delivery of well-planned and enjoyable events. I made sure to prioritise clear communication and deadlines within these roles, to allow the team to work together as effectively as possible.

Overall, I would love the opportunity to help give back to the society and display our identity through being secretary!
