Abigail Chiu

Hi everyone! I am Abi, a Law enthusiast with a special interest in patent law and IP :)

I am running for LawSoc's External Relations Officer, as after attending networking events including the Non-Law into Law conference, I have thoroughly enjoyed talking to more like-minded individuals as well as reaching out to those with more experience such as company ambassadors about their career trajectories. As a highly ambitious individual, I feel that this role will enable me to help propel the amount of networking in this society to a much greater level, and I am happy to take on any challenges to provide these opportunities.

I feel that most members of this society are still exploring the idea of Law, or which branch they would enjoy most and like to pursue, so by bringing in more professionals to connect with and seek advice from, members of the society will benefit much more. I would also utilise this role to bring in more opportunities for in-person or else online chats, and potential company work experience and workshops for different streams of Law for further exploration. I believe that with my communication skills and collaboration with other LawSoc leaders, that LawSoc will be able to hold more diverse events that appeal to more society members in all stages of considering Law. This will include more inter-university events and collaboration with more Law company connections that Imperial has and beyond.
