Hey everyone! I’m Gerald, a first-year Biochemistry student, and I’m running for the role of RCSU Events Officer.
Starting university was a big adjustment, everything felt new and unfamiliar. But the RCSU has made this transition so much easier. Through its amazing events, I was able to meet people with shared interests and truly feel a sense of belonging. That’s why I want to give back by managing the union’s events for the next academic year. I want to ensure that every student has the same opportunity to connect, unwind, and celebrate the vibrant culture we have at Imperial.
My approach would focus on inclusivity and engagement. I plan to actively solicit feedback from students across all departments to make sure our events align with what the wider community truly wants. Whether it’s through surveys or interviews, I want to ensure that every student has a voice in shaping the social activities at Imperial. Additionally, I will work closely with other members of the RCSU to keep events fresh, ensuring we maintain a balance of traditional favorites alongside new and innovative ideas that can appeal to different groups within the student body.
Finally, I understand that successful events aren’t just about great ideas, they require excellent execution. I will ensure that each event is well-promoted, inclusive, and meets the expectations of our community. By working closely with fellow officers and gathering constant feedback, I aim to make the RCSU’s events more exciting, engaging, and memorable than ever before.
