Tharanya Appulingam

Vanakkam! My name is Tharanya and I would love to apply for the role of head of subcommittee. I have really enjoyed being a part of subcommittee this year, involving myself with Tsoc and felt very embraced within this close community. I hope to continue next year as part of committee and be able to provide the freshers next year with the same welcoming environment.

The experience of subcommittee has also really allowed me to see what the role entails and that I have been developing the skills to be able to take on this role. When organising games night, I was part of the admin team and worked with other members, showing teamwork as well as helping in the sponsorship hunt, showcasing my dedication.

I have had previous experience of leading a group of younger students tutoring primary school children during an after-school homework club where I would co-ordinate the roles and guide them through the evening. Through this I have been able to develop my organisational skills which I can translate to organising the meet and greet, Tamil ammas and appas as well as co-ordinating subcommittee to organise games night. I will also use the communication skills I developed so that the future subcommittee will feel welcomed and have a friendly face to help them out.
