Leah Heartin
Hi, I'm Leah!
Intercalating in Business Management has been the highlight of my Imperial experience so far. It opened my eyes to an entirely different field, developed my skills with a variety of coursework formats, challenged my teamwork and collaborative skills and enabled me to meet so many new people who I'm delighted to call friends. This intercalation is unlike any other year of medical school, and frankly has been the most difficult, yet throughout the experience Management Society has been on hand to support and guide. I would love the opportunity to be Vice President this year: ensuring the mentoring scheme runs smoothly, resources are accessible and organising events.
I have prior experience in leadership roles as President of Oncology Society last year (one of Imperial's largest academic societies!) which involved organising events from conferences to teaching series. This engagement with external speakers is an aspect I'd like to incorporate into Management Society. As Director of Academia for Widening Participation charity In2MedSchool, I often present to hundreds of students across the country providing access to free UCAT resources. This demonstrates my dedication in helping those who come after us to thrive. I enjoy public speaking, notably, hosting ICSM Fashion Show 2023 and delivering the cohort's speech at our Halfway Dinner! I'm sociable and outgoing, and will ensure Management Society has a friendly face. Through previous experience as a mentor and CPA tutor, I know how to build rapport and will be able to effectively support the new Management cohort.
