Kia ora! I’m Claire I lived in Auckland my whole life, but ironically I’ve talked about New Zealand way more since leaving it. Moving to the literal opposite side of the world is both terrifying and character-building, and there’s nothing like spotting another Aus/NZ accent in the wild to feel at home again.
As president, I’d love to build a strong, welcoming community of students and alumni for anyone who's just survived the 24-hour haul, barbecues, pub crawls, and some Southern Hemisphere-style chaos, a place where we make new friends and complain about New Zealand not being on the world map during the cultural inclusivity talk. I also want to boost our social media and campus presence and have more clear communication from leadership so newcomers can easily find us and know what’s planned for the year. At the end of the day, I just want to make sure no one has to miss summer Christmas alone.
