Kia ora! I’m Claire I lived in Auckland my whole life, but ironically I’ve talked about New Zealand way more since leaving it. Moving to the literal opposite side of the world is both terrifying and character-building, and there’s nothing like spotting another Aus/NZ accent in the wild to feel at home again.
As events officer, I’d love to help build a strong, welcoming community of students and alumni for anyone who's just survived the 24-hour haul, barbecues, pub crawls, and some Southern Hemisphere-style chaos, a place where we can argue about who invented what and complain about New Zealand not being on the world map during the cultural inclusivity talk. I think it would also be nice to set up a "family" systems as other cultural societies have done and maybe even pair up people who are looking for flatmates or accomodation.
