It’s been a pleasure being one of your social secs this year and working with an amazing committee to put on some awesome events! From big events like Circle line, chilled evenings playing Spoons at Hop Poles, I have had the best time this year thanks to the wonderful company that surrounds me. This is what makes me excited to run for Vice chair. I would have the privilege of being heavily involved in the planning large scale events such as Weekend Away, and Christmas dinner, but what excites me the most is being in a position where I get to be a central point of contact for both committee members and the wider society.
What really stands out to me about our society, is our truly welcoming and non-judgemental atmosphere, which is epitomised by a committee that, not only works with each other, but also for each other. People go out of their way to help each other achieve their visions of success even outside their allocated roles. It is these acts of selflessness that make the society what it is, and I’d like to carry this ethos forward. If elected I’d like to create a system by which there is a regular point of contact between committee members and the Chair/Vice chair, not only to highlight issues but also to celebrate our successes.
Angie has set the bar SO SO HIGH – and I promise I’ll give it my very best to do her, and you all, proud!
