Obstetrics & Gynaecology: Early Years Academic Officer

Since joining the ICOGS, I have been warmly welcomed into a group of people who share my interest in women’s health and my enthusiasm for sharing that passion with others.

As a fourth-year medical student, I have experienced how ICOGs can help ignite that passion and I want to be a part of passing that forward. From volunteering at conferences to delivering tutorials, I am eager to enhance the experience of fellow students, and I aspire to make insight into O&G more accessible for all.

I have gained and utilised many relevant skills from various roles, particularly working with students from early years. As a hall senior, I regularly employ good time-management, teamwork and organisational skills to run events for students. Furthermore, liaising between staff and students to solve problems and organise supportive sessions or resources, refined my effective communication skills as Repro BSc Academic Representative.

As Early Years Academic Officer, I hope to organise career talks with O&G professionals along with an introduction to O&G talk to help students engage with the speciality. I would also organise teaching and revision workshops and expand the existing bank of learning resources, including revision notes, question banks, and “what to expect” starter packs to support students academically. Effectively communicating events such as the ICOGS conference and journal club could also help students find ways to build useful skills.

I would consider it a privilege to use my skills to support other students in finding their own passion for O&G.

Thank You!
