TedX: Co-Chair

From 'Ideas Worth Spreading' to 'Ideas Change Everything', the essence of a TED Talk lies in the opportunity offered to inspire others through a less-than 15-minute talk. As a former speaker at a TEDx event, I aim to replicate the experience I enjoyed for everyone.

Hi, my name is Sze Jing, a 1st Year Civil Engineering student and the secretary of TEDxImperial 2024/25, and I'm running as your Co-Chair.

Being an intern at a Member of Parliament's office, a part of the Student Council office and involved in several industry-linked student bodies, my experience taught me key organisational skills and the professionalism expectations from the industry. Additionally, my involvement in several Imperial clubs last year allowed me to understand the workings of the union.

If I'm elected as a Co-Chair, I will:

1. Prioritise weekly committee physical meetings to maintain the momentum of the event management

2. Implement an 'open-office' culture, encouraging direct communication and a systematic approach within the committee

3. Actively reach out to societies and collaborate to increase TEDxImperial's publicity

4. Organisation several taster sessions at least a month before the annual conference

5. Give more focus on Imperial-based speakers (i.e. Students and Lectures) to increase publicity

6. Plan the event at least 9 months in advance to ensure the venue can be secured due to the unavailability of the Great Hall

My previous experience as a Secretary in TEDxImperial allowed me to understand society's internal workings. Hence, do vote for me to build this up together!
