Vincent McCabe

My name is Vincent and I am running for Head of Education & Competitions because I believe Finance Soc has the potential to offer far more opportunities to students interested in a broad range of financial careers – not just investment banking.

I want Finance Soc to be the go-to platform for financial education and interview preparation, so that everyone can understand the difference between a trader and an asset manager or know exactly what an actuary does.

So these are my proposals:

· Technical Workshop Series ran by alumni and students who have successfully interviewed and secured top internships to cover topics commonly seen in finance interviews such as valuation, LBOs and DCFs.

· A Finance Soc Resource Bank of CV and cover letter templates as well as technical guides all in a shared drive for society members to access.

· More frequent fireside chats from alumni and professionals across the full spectrum of finance: accountancy, corporate finance, actuarial science, risk, fintech, and more.

As for competitions:

· Imperial Trading Simulation Challenge: a university-wide virtual trading league spanning a few weeks open to all levels of experience. A fun event to add to your CV.

· Technical finance quizzes: fast-paced multiple choice quizzes testing core knowledge in different areas as mini-competitions, ideal for students preparing for interviews.
