Wasit Tahami

Muslim Medics: Year 2 Coordinator

Assalmualaikum!

I'm Wasit and I’m excited to be applying for Year 2 Coordinator.

I'm grateful for what MM has provided me in my early years at medical school – perfectly comining both spiritual and academic aspects of learning. From delivering high-quality tutorials, writing mock papers to volunteering at BADG events, being able to engage with such a wide variety of activities all within one society is something you don’t come across. It's this unique balance that has inspired me to get more involved.

I'd like to run for this position because, having delivered tutorials for Year 1 students this year, I’ve developed a real passion for teaching difficult topics. More than just teaching, I want to now take a more active role in organising and coordinating these tutorials. I get how important these sessions are, especially as students rely heavily on revision tutorials closer to exam time. It’s a heck of a responsibility, and I believe I’ve got what it takes to take it on.

I’m time-efficient, resourceful, and adaptable – whether that’s through delivering high-yield, high-difficulty tutorials, or stepping in to help with events like the MM Annual Dinner. I understand the importance of flexibility in this role, especially when last-minute changes come up (tutorial dropouts…don’t do this to me!). I’ll bring a dependable, proactive energy – someone who gets things done and supports others while doing it.

If high yield, high quality tutorials resonates with you, then vote for me and let’s make it happen :)
