RCSU: Alumni Officer (Theta Bearer)

Many of the wonderful people I’ve met at Imperial these past three years are graduating! If that’s not an incentive to be the best Theta Bearer possible, I don’t know what is!

Saying goodbye has shown me how important it is to maintain the connections we’ve built. As RCSU Alumni Officer, I want to make sure that those ties don’t fade once lectures end, labs are packed up, and dissertations are handed in.

My goal is to strengthen alumni engagement in a way that is relevant and long-lasting. I plan to start by gathering feedback from current graduating students—learning how they’d like to stay involved, what kinds of events they’d enjoy, and what updates they’d value. This would help shape reunions, socials, and speaker evenings that bring alumni back into South Kensington.

But Imperial draws brilliant students from all over the world, and I don't want geography or timezones hampering reconnection. To solve this, I have thought of creating an online alumni network—a space like LinkedIn, but tailored specifically for Imperial graduates.

But alumni interaction, isn’t just about looking back and reflecting, it can also help us forge new paths. Our alumni have insights and experiences from industry, strengthening our bond with them could possibly lead to diverse careers fairs and opportunities, allowing us to get the most of our degrees.
