Lavanya Kallamvelli Vasanth

Vanakkam! I’m Lavanya, and I would love the opportunity to be your Head of Culture for the next year! With a deep passion for being involved in events that showcase our rich culture and heritage, I believe that with this responsibility, I can put my maximum efforts into delivering exciting traditional events such as Thai Pongal, Navaratri, and Deepavali. It would be a privilege to lead and help with hosting such festivals to continue spreading the much-recognised beauty in our traditions, whilst also showcasing the diversity within Tamil culture. A potential new addition to our society's cultural events could be a Carnatic Music and Dance talent show, for which I would love to organise, to continue showcasing the diversity in talents and traditions. Also, playing the Carnatic Veena for several years has given me the chance to assist and teach junior students, and leading a Medical Ethics society at school has also been a valuable experience from which I hope to mirror the leadership involved when executing this role. Most importantly, this year, while being my first at Imperial, I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Subcommittee. Through engaging and being involved in events such as the well-loved Tsoc Games Night, Sponsorship Hunt and MM, I would love the opportunity to continue hosting and supporting the cultural events specifically, for the upcoming year. Therefore, I would be grateful to be considered for the role of Head of Culture. Thank you!
