Chinese Students & Scholars Association: Vice President

Hi everyone,

I’m Xiaocen Dong, a first-year PhD student in Physics. Having served as Treasurer, I’ve gained strong insight into how our society operates—from securing sponsorships to coordinating cross-club events. I’m now running for Vice President to serve our community with broader vision and greater responsibility.

My goal is to strengthen internal collaboration, build a more inclusive environment, and support long-term growth. I’ve co-organised career talks, managed shared budgets with other societies, and overseen financial planning. These experiences have taught me how to connect strategy with execution effectively.

As Vice President, I will focus on three pillars:

  1. Coordination – Build stronger communication across departments and implement a cleaner, faster information system through social media platforms for immediate updates and clearer outreach.

  2. Community – Host welcome events for new members, especially undergraduates, helping them find support and friendships under today’s global pressures.

  3. Continuity – Support new committee training and actively offer leadership opportunities to newer members—ensuring a smooth transition and a dynamic team year after year.

If elected, I’ll hold regular inter-department syncs, assist in key initiatives, and make sure our society remains transparent, responsive, and member-driven. I believe the Vice President’s role is about enabling others to grow, lead, and connect—while keeping the big picture in focus.

Let’s move forward together—stronger, smarter, and more united.

Thank you!
