Hi, I’m Zain, and I’m running to be training and performance secretary next year.

My main role would be to support the captains—especially over the winter—by helping run sharp, high-quality training sessions. With the uni season being so short, the teams that are best prepared often come out on top, and I want to make sure we give ourselves the best possible chance.

That means making sessions more structured and competitive. Early in the winter, I'd focus more on technical work, making sure players have a purpose in each session and no one’s left standing around after they've had a net. As we get closer to the season, sessions would shift to more match-based scenarios, so players are practising the roles they’ll be expected to deliver in games.

Given the big numbers in 2s and 3s training, I’d also look to bring in a system where at least one 1st XI player helps coach the 3rd team squad each week—just to raise the standard, share knowledge, and build more connection across the club.

I would be really excited to work with the captains and the rest of the club to help every team perform at their best.
