Let’s make the E in EFDS hot again!
I’m running for Economics Industry Officer because I believe economics deserves the spotlight, not just as theory in a lecture hall, but as a powerful toolkit shaping industries, governments, and futures. It’s time to turn curiosity into clarity and help every EFDS member explore what’s next.
My focus? Guiding our members who are passionate about economics towards impactful careers, whether that means applying for a master’s, breaking into policy research, or building an edge in competitive sectors like consulting, finance, and tech.
If elected, I will:
- Host a new flagship event: “Pathways in Economics”: a curated speaker and panel series featuring alumni, recruiters, and academics from institutions like Oxbridge, LSE, IMF, the Bank of England, and top consultancies. Whether you’re aiming for a master’s, a policy internship, or a PhD, you’ll hear directly from those who’ve done it.
- Create the EFDS Graduate Economics Guide: a student-led resource covering master’s applications, personal statements, scholarships, and more. This will include mentorship pairings with older students and alumni who’ve successfully navigated the process.
- Build partnerships with leading institutions: from research think tanks to central banks and economic consultancies, to open up internship pipelines and repeat speaker engagements.
EFDS should be more than a society: it should be a launchpad. Let’s build a platform that’s not just about getting ahead, but understanding where you want to go, and how economics can take you there!
