Nour Mokhtar

As-salaamu ‘alaikum,
I am Nour, one of this year’s general committee members at STEM Muslims, but people usually know me from toilet duty.

I love STEMM because it’s both fast-moving and deeply impactful—giving me a way to contribute meaningfully to the Muslim community at Imperial.

Over the past year I have been working closely with many members of the committee. I have worked closely with the current secretary, who has shown me what the role entails.

As the new secretary, my goals are:
1) To ensure seamless event operations by
• completing all room bookings well in advance
• coordinating all logistical aspects of events, from venue booking and room setup to AV requirements and catering
• ⁠Developing and maintaining detailed checklists and timelines to keep all operations running smoothly

2) To Build a Reliable Volunteer Support Network by
• recruiting and training logistics volunteers to help with large-scale events, such as our hackathon and careers fair
• ⁠Creating rota systems and clear role descriptions to ensure clarity amongst team members

3) To Maintain a clear central calendar
• managing a shared society calendar that includes all events, meetings and important deadlines
• ⁠ensuring all committee members are kept informed of upcoming events and avoid calendar clashes

I look forward to continuing my involvement in STEMM and contributing to the smooth running of all our events, inshaAllah. I’m excited to serve my religion and my community, whilst upholding our values, as a trusted member of the committee.
