Kelly Baker
Manifesto for Vice President
Kelly Baker
Having just returned from an incredible (and rather chaotic) year abroad at UBC in Vancouver, I’m excited to run for Vice President of the Erasmus Society. I want to turn my experiences — both the highs and the logistical hurdles — into something valuable for others.
While studying abroad was deeply enriching, I often felt a lack of structured support, both logistically but also emotionally. I believe we can do better for both incoming and outgoing students, and that starts with building a stronger, more visible study-abroad community at Imperial.
If elected, I will:
-
Create a pre-departure peer network and advice hub for outgoing students,
-
Organise inclusive socials and study groups for incoming exchange students,
-
Push for better visibility of year-abroad support (i.e. the Erasmus society!) within departments,
-
Support the President and committee with enthusiasm and experience!
I bring strong leadership skills, having co-founded and run a first aid Scout group for young adults in Canada (MedVents). I managed logistics, led activities, and designed both the group’s logo and website: pacificspiritmedvents.com. I also come from Glastonbury: a quaint, historically rich town in south west England, and would love to organise a group trip there if people were interested.
I care deeply about helping others thrive in their year abroad — not just academically, but socially and emotionally. If you believe in a more connected and supported year-abroad experience, I’d be honoured to have your vote.
