Hello everyone,

My name is Hiten and I am running to be your Year One Academic Representative.

With your support, I can make sure that your first year at Imperial is a smooth and rewarding journey. As well as being responsive and diligent in my role as the messenger between you and the faculty, I plan to run several initiatives, including hosting monthly meetings where students can engage in discourse to work out what issues they consider most pressing, which will be put forward to lecturers. Additionally, I will ensure that course material (lecture notes, solutions to problem sheets etc.) is uploaded and amended (if required) on a timely basis while also collaborating with lecturers to make sure that deadlines are spaced fairly and the workload allocated isn't taxing. Another initiative I plan to organise are peer study sessions before tests and for certain difficult-to-understand ideas so that students get the chance to ingrain these ideas themselves while also being able to help others. Lastly, if you ever feel under-represented, feel your voice is unheard or just have ideas that can help our community, you will be able to contact me at any time (hu25@ic.ac.uk) and I will get your message across.
