Bioengineering (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative

Hey! I’m Sonia and I'm a first year running to be your Wellbeing Rep.

I understand firsthand how overwhelming this new environment can be. It is difficult to adapt to life away from home, and there are additional pressures from trying to fit in and stay on top of your course. Having the right support can make Imperial feel like your second home.

If I'm elected, I'll work towards making wellbeing support more visible and accessible to all, with sessions for anything from mental health advice to financial aid. For those unable to attend these sessions, materials will be provided to ensure everyone gets the advice they need.

I'll maintain direct communication with the bioengineering department, relaying questions and concerns to make your voices heard. I hope to also advocate for more communication between cohorts, as I know how invaluable their advice can be.

Your mental health should be top priority. Of course studies are important, but taking time to recharge or socialise can vastly improve your student life. I intend to work closely with the society to ensure plenty of departmental activities, celebrating anything from Halloween and Christmas, to Chinese New Year and Holi. Additionally, I'll introduce new events and push for a more student led calendar, where YOU can make suggestions for activities to take part in, such as pub crawls, game nights, or outdoor activities.

With your support, we can truly make a difference to student life.
