Postgraduate Taught Representation Chair

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah, and I’m an MSc student in the AI Applications and Innovation program. I’m running to be Postgraduate Taught Representation Chair because I want to be your biggest advocate during your time at Imperial. Throughout the year, I will focus on improving academic transparency across all departments and bolstering resources for international students before and during their time at Imperial.

Coming to Imperial, I noticed that my coursemates were struggling to understand the module specifications due to vague descriptions on our course website. As a result, many of us did not understand what kind of program they were entering until they arrived on campus. As Representation Chair, I want to investigate whether this pattern is prevalent across different departments and enact policies that give ample resources to prospective postgraduate students.

In my conversations with other international students, I also realized that we all went through similar issues: CAS/visa delays, feeling alone in a new city, and figuring out our future after our postgraduate program. These issues require proactive solutions, and as Representation Chair, I want to focus on bolstering existing Imperial resources and making them more visible to international students.

When I was an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, I was a student government representative who focused on academic and well-being advocacy. The driving force behind my involvement was simple: to create the best possible experience for everyone. This year, I intend to bring that same passion to the Imperial postgraduate student body.
