Hello fellow queers :)
I'm KY (he/they) running to be your Trans+ Officer this year. Some of you might already know me from halls, course, societies or otherwise, but I'm hoping this year I can be a friendly face to all! If I get elected, I plan to make Imperial as trans-positive as I can. Be it through fighting for more gender neutral bathrooms, making it easier to change the name on your email, or building a greater sense of community through events, I want to make Imperial a safer space for each and every one of us.
As a hall senior, I'm passionate about ensuring there are inclusive policies throughout Imperial; on campus, in departments or in university-run accommodation. I plan to push for the use of preferred names and pronouns everywhere—and yes, that includes your dorm room door tag—so that you can rest easy and not worry about any awkward conversations. I'll handle the talking for you, even if that means having a standoff with your seventy-year-old professor that doesn't believe pronouns exist.
In the coming year, I'd love to organise more meet ups; group trips to trans club nights, lunches over curly fries or really anything else you'd like—just let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen. I also plan to persuade the union to let me put my design skills to good use to make trans pride lanyards, and spread the gay agenda by making the existing rainbow lanyards more accessible!
