"all publicity is good publicity" - Ruby Lydford, age 240 months
I'm Ruby, a second year Physics undergraduate. Through my time at Imperial so far I have come to appreciate the bridge between intensive academia, and light-hearted humour.
As RCSU President, I hope to
- Indulge in fun, creative themed events, affairs, and shenanigans. I believe that a new perspective needs to be brought to a lot of the events currently run.
- I want to cater towards a plethora of university experiencies: the academic and the social butterfly, the drinkers and the non-drinkers alike. I understand that there is a wide range of wants and needs for sober and alcohol-indulging students that are not always recognised, and would like everyone to feel comfortable.
- Jazz night. RCSU jazz night. In the current political climate, UCL is outselling Imperial at jazz nights, and we can change this and unite on the common enemy (or take advice from them and collaborate).
- Continue adcvocating for and building on the inclusivity of underrepresented groups.
This academic year I have used my time planning events and publicity for Physics Society, being an illustrator for Felix, and working on the elusive, enigmatic, and polarising Annual Felix Sex Survey, and would love to expand these experiences to the wider horizons of the faculty.
I hope that I can help deliver a complete and fulfilling university experience with the help of a strong committee, and I assure you I can dedicate my time and commitment to the large task ahead.
