Mental Health Officer

Hello!

My name is Bharath, I’m an undergrad studying chemical engineering and I’m excited to be running for the position of Mental Health officer.

No doubt studying at Imperial is stressful. We’ve all had that time when we had multiple coursework due close together, or the dreaded lab report writeup. This is why I believe it is crucial to ensure the appropriate support is available for students, from a quick checkup with your well-being rep to speak with a trained counsellor. As MH Officer, I will stand with you and strive to make sure each of your voices is listened to so that we can all have a memorable university experience.

As your MH officer, I aim to:

  • Create a more supportive environment so that students have the optimal experience at uni
  • Work closely with well-being reps so we can provide the best support to students
  • Improve awareness of the importance of mental health by reducing stigma and providing resources
  • Create an anonymous feedback form which we will take in to improve the quality of help provided to you
  • Organise mental health workshops, available to all students and staff members.

During school, I was a Bucks Mind peer mentor, where I listened to problems different students had, meeting with them weekly and helping them overcome their obstacles. This inspired me to apply to help my peers at university.

Thank you for reading my manifesto, and I hope that together we can improve the mental health at Imperial!
