ICSMSU: Welfare Vice Chair - Wellbeing Representatives
Wellbeing is crucial, and so it’s important to have people who really care, advocating on your behalf. Many of us will face some type of welfare issue at our time at ICSM and knowing you have a strong support network behind you can make all the difference. Hello, I’m Shreyas and I am passionate about helping you look after your wellbeing during your time at ICSM and advocating for the change that you feel would improve your welfare.
My experience:
- Having been the Year 1 Welfare representative, I have a good understanding of how the SSLG process works and so can help future reps make the most out of the process.
- This has also taught me how to communicate efficiently with faculty and foster meaningful discussion between faculty and students to help make your voices heard.
- Have helped create useful infographics on different welfare topics, to help students and raise awareness.
- Being an active member of both ICSMRFC and Telugu Society has given me appreciation of how a rounded experience of ICSM is important for wellbeing.
A couple things I'd like to do:
- Support representatives to help them make the most out of the SSLG process.
- Help make the SSLG process more efficient to make it easier to implement change.
- Make sure communication about welfare is kept efficient and transparent between students and faculty.
- Work with other areas of welfare and the wider union to help implement wider change.
- Be a friendly, approachable face that anyone can talk to.
