Zirong Song
Hey guys, my name is Song.
First year of medical school can be particularly daunting, especially with a new environment, new expectations, new faces and new friends. It can be very overwhelming and nerve-racking, constantly being worried about whether you are doing the right thing. It erodes your mental and physical health, and many times you will feel burnt out. The transition between A-levels to university is much greater than what people say it is. We all have our coping mechanisms, but should you need additional support, I will ensure there are services that are constantly available for you and your voice and any concerns are heard.
As the wellbeing representative, my goals are to:
- Increase signposting and awareness of financial bursaries (especially for international students)
- Increase promotion of wellbeing services to improve awareness of where you seek them
- Improve student experiences during hospital and GP placements, especially for first years so it is not too overwhelming
- Continue FEO welfare sessions so that services are available when you need it
- Increase the number of surveys for you to voice concerns for future prevention and to bring it up during SSLGs with FEO
- Increase workshops for financial stress
I am open to any other feedback and ideas for changes you want!
Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to serve your Wellbeing Rep!!!:)
